Local Food!

This post expired on February 03, 2024.

Good Morning from the South Cumberland Food Hub. Well, as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end and that’s what’s happened with apples for the year. We have been blessed with an unusually long season this year, and we have all enjoyed them. So we’ll be looking forward to local apples again in July.
Now we wait for the early spring crops of greens, broccoli, peas and strawberries to arrive. This extreme cold we’ve been experiencing has destroyed the earliest of these crops, but farmers have replanted and will have some fresh produce available mid to late March, weather permitting.
Of course Green Door Gourmet already had a jump on the season before the cold set in, and even though their plants have been setback, they should recover in a couple of weeks (again-weather permitting). So let’s pray for continued mild temperatures from here on out.
We still have some local items available now such as eggs, meat, garlic, sweet potatoes, micro greens, and many more. Check out the whole list here:

Have a great week and thank you for supporting your local farmers and your rights to eat good food.
